For the past 15 years, the
Law Offices of Fern Trevino
has limited its practice to
the representation of
employees. The firm has
refused all requests from
employers for representation
so that we can provide
greater protection for our
clients against conflicts of
interest. The firm’s
attorneys are responsive,
ethical, and assertive
advocates with a
well-grounded understanding
of the law.
Communication: We
timely
update clients on
communications with defense
counsel, agency officials,
witnesses, and the court,
and we regularly inform
our clients about the status
of their case. We value our
clients’ input and obtain
their approval on key
documents, such as court
filings and communications
involving settlement
negotiations. We know that
clients’ work schedules can
make it difficult to talk
during working hours. Our
attorneys schedule
appointments to communicate
by phone and/or email during
evening hours, early
mornings, and on weekends.
Clients are
welcome to call us with
questions and to review
their files at our office.

Areas of
Concentration:
The Law Offices of Fern
Trevino litigates,
negotiates, and mediates
extensively in select
employment law areas:
whistleblower claims
(including Sarbanes-Oxley),
sexual harassment,
discrimination (gender, sex,
gender, pregnancy, sexual
orientation, race, national
origin, age, disability, and
religious discrimination),
retaliation for having
complained of discrimination
or harassment, retaliatory
discharge and wrongful
termination, and FMLA
violations. The firm
advises current and former
employees about severance
and non-compete agreements.
In addition, the firm counsels
employees on how to handle
difficult or ongoing
workplace issues.
Referrals:
The
Law
Offices of Fern Trevino
receives many
referrals from former
clients, other attorneys,
the Chicago Bar Association,
and the EEOC (Equal
Employment Opportunity
Commission).
The firm usually does not accept
a referral fee from other
attorneys and the firm does
not pay referral fees to
other attorneys.
